Pinot Grigio – Umbria IGT – BIO
“Àlago” is the Pinot Grigio vineyard located near the small lake at the center of a natural amphitheater formed by the vineyard.
BLEND: Pinot grigio
GROUND: Clayey, silty, calcareous with remarkable presence of travertine skeleton. Gentle hill.
VINEYARD: About half a hectare of 3×1 m planting (planted in 2003). Exposure: north-east, south-west. About half a hectare of 2.90×0.90 m planting (planted in 2013). Exposure: east-west.
TRIMMING: Spurred cordon (3 gems).
VINEYARD RUNNING: Permanent grassing, management of the under row and suckering controlled by mechanical means only. Defoliation and side-growth removing to improve the microclimate and quality of the clusters. Organic certification.
HARVEST: From lOth to 20th August, in small containers with selection of the grapes. Night harvest.
YIELD: Grapes 60q/ha. Wine 60%.
WINEMAKING: Destemming and crushing. Soft pressing and immediate removal of skins. Fermentation, about 30 days, frequent stirring.
FINISHING: 12 months in sta inless steel tanks, frequent batonnage.
